Install problem - Disc 2 won't load!
I just purchased Guild Wars and I went to install it today. Everything was going fine until it asked me to insert Disc 2. I did this and then clicked "OK" and nothing happened. It just sat there and a few minutes later I was advised that the program is no longer responding. Good Times! All the good things I hear about this game and I can't get it to work! Any ideas? A brief list of my specs are below:
Dell XPS Gen 4
Intell 3.2ghz
1GB RAM
Nvidia 6800 video card

You can just download and install the client from www.guildwars.com (click the BIG "Download The Client" graphic on the left side) and it will download the files from the Internet. It may take some time to download the whole program, but it will work. Hopefully you aren't using dial-up.

And by doing this I won't need to use the discs? Just the access key?

Correct. You will not need the disks...just the access key.

Is there a real solution for this? My install CDs won't work either. But i hate using the online client, it's very laggy and slow.

The online client is exactly the same as you have on the disc!

Not quite. The CD installation is the full installation of the game. The Online Client is "as you go." It's sort of like improvising.
The online Client has been very laggy for me. The usual CD-Installed version wouldn't have had this problem unless I was torrenting.

Also to note, if you download, there are way more Files to download for updates. ( roughly 5000 with the cd's and 10000 with the client). I know since I had to install Guild wars four time over the course of two weeks, really annoying. And finaly, almost each town/area you go in, get ready to dowload an other extra 300-500 files.

^ Correct.
That's why I really need help. Not even Factions will work. I don't know if it's my PC, the CDs aren't scratched up, if NCSoft felt like killing CD-Install, or what. But I really need help =[

i had the same problem when i reinstalled GW last month, disc 2 of Prophecies, Factions AND Nightfall refused to load... the chances of scratching exactly disc 2 of all three chapters considering the fact i'd only used them to install GW once before? pretty slim.

So what. He did exactly what forum nazi's always say people should do. He found an appropriate thread and bumped it with a question. Much better than starting a new thread with the questions.
But nooooo, nothing is ever good enough for some of you. You can't resist any opportunity to say something "witty" and strut your funky stuff.
For those of you who are having the problems with the client "streaming" as you go, use the -image command. It's documented in many places here. Just set it up to download the whole gw.dat file (probably overnight, it takes at least a couple hours). Then it's all installed and good to go, no more streaming.
